Evening Primrose (Oenathera biennis) is a plant that’s native to Europe and North America. It has a long history of medicinal uses, already known by Native American. From its seeds, cold pressing, the Evening Primrose Oil (EPO) is obtained, rich in Omega 6 polyunsaturated essential fatty oils, and in particular 10% Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA). In addition, it contains minerals, fiber, vitamins and amino acids.
- Evening primrose oil is good for women’s nutrition, fighting symptoms of premenstrual syndrome. It can also help with the discomforts of menopause.
- In addition, it has other medicinal uses. It supports a healthy skin, fighting against skin problems such as eczema or dermatitis (effective in reducing the itching and with the hydration of the skin).
- It also fights inflammation. We know inflammation negatively affects our health and can exacerbate and even cause disease. GLA is further metabolized into DGLA, which makes it an anti-inflammatory nutrient. Studies have shown pain reduction and greater joint flexibility.
